Nyoda's COVID Definitions
There are many words used interchangeably and with varying definitions among the press, social media, doctor’s offices, and schools. To keep us all working together, we are defining the following words that we will be using this summer when our focus will be on your daughters. We thank you for taking the time to read and understand our definitions.
Case: Someone who has a positive COVID test.
Cohort: A small group that stays together. For us, this would mean a bungalow group. Masks will not be required within the cohort group, inside or outside.
Exposed: Someone with prolonged contact with a confirmed case of COVID. Exposed persons need to have been within six feet for greater than 15 minutes with or without a mask.
High Risk Behavior: This behavior includes: large group gatherings, inside, with or without a mask, large group gatherings. outside. without a mask, prolonged exposure with those outside a family or cohort group, extensive travel with or without a mask, indoor dining.
Quarantine: Isolation for COVID positive people. It lasts for 5 days from the onset of symptoms or a positive test. Campers and staff will be required to isolate at home, under the care of a parent or guardian. After 5 days and when symptom free, the camper may return and will wear a mask for 5 additional days.
Low Risk Behavior: This behavior includes: wearing a mask, socializing in small established groups, being around others who are also adhering to low risk behavior, attending small social gatherings outside, or, if vaccinated, following guidelines for vaccinated people.
Shelter in Place: to stay at home in the safest, low risk environment possible. This would mean no gatherings, birthday parties, overnights, sport teams, or other camps, etc.
